King Charles appoints Baroness Helena Kennedy to Scotland’s Order of the Thistle

His Majesty the King has appointed Baroness Helena Kennedy of The Shaws KC, to the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

Dame Ann Limb DBE DL commented, “As Founder and Vice President of the education and social justice charity, the Helena Kennedy Foundation, I speak on behalf of all of us involved in work on social mobility, to express our warmest congratulations to our President, Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws KC, on her appointment to the Order of the Thistle – Scotland’s highest royal honour. There can be no one more deserving of such eminent recognition than Helena Kennedy. Her life has been devoted to giving voice to the voiceless and seeking justice for those who have been wronged. We are proud of Helena’s achievements and honoured by her championing of the charity that bears her name”.

The Order of the Thistle was formally established with a statutory foundation under the rule of Scotland’s James VII in 1687 and represents the highest honour in Scotland.
