Shahida Aslam

Shahida joined the foundation in August 2012.  She has a long history of community engagement and has been working to inspire individual growth and development throughout her extensive career.  Initially, she focused on welfare to work and adult education programmes.  Her ability to engage and inspire communities – including those categorised as ‘hard to reach’ – led her to broker creative programmes with communities who traditionally don’t participate in mainstream arts/ cultural provision.  Her strengths in community engagement and her ability to motivate individuals was drawn upon when she enhanced student experiences of university life by engaging them in pioneering projects within the University of East London’s Students’ Union. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and craft activities.
